1. Splatter-Painted Sneakers

Why it works: Controlled paint splatter turns any plain sneaker into a dynamic, art-gallery worthy piece.

Materials & Prep

• Canvas or leather sneakers
• Acrylic leather paints (Angelus or similar)
• Fine- and medium-bristled brushes
• Painter’s tape, newspaper

Steps

1. Mask off soles and interior with tape and newspaper to protect non-paint areas
2. Thin paints slightly with water or acrylic medium for better splatter flow
3. Flick paint by tapping the brush handle-start with one color, let dry, then layer additional hues for depth
4. Seal with clear finisher to prevent cracking and preserve vibrancy

Time: ~2 hours + drying
Cost: $20–$40

2. Dip-Dye Ombre Kicks

Why it works: Gradual color transitions create a high-end look, achievable with fabric dyes and water.

Materials & Prep

• Fabric or canvas shoes
• RIT dye or Tulip fabric spray
• Large container for dye bath
• Rubber bands

Steps

1. Prepare dye bath according to package instructions
2. Submerge toe area of shoes, holding handles so only lower half is dyed
3. Lift gradually over 5–10 minutes to achieve ombré fade
4. Rinse in cold water until excess dye runs clear; air dry (avoid direct sun)
